One gall bladder lighter

After having what I thought were crazy pregnancy related stomach aches for months I ended up in Labor and Delivery last Saturday night after rushing home from the Relief Society broadcast with crippling back spasms. After being monitored for almost 3 HOURS (!!!) they decided I was right and probably having muscle spasms, gave me a shot of morphine and discharged me. I should have know something was off when the morphine only worked for a good hour and then pain in my stomach and lower back started in again, luckily I got home and in bed before it got too bad and was able to sleep a bit. The next day was spent in bed with horrible stomach and back pains. I slept a total of an hour that night because I had the worst stomach ache, I couldn't even lie down it hurt so bad. So first thing the next morning I called my OB and she wanted me to come in right away to have some blood work done, I did and about an hour later the nurse called with the results that my liver enzymes were abnormal which probably meant that I was having a problem with my gall bladder. She scheduled me for an ultrasound first thing the next morning but told me to head to the ER if the pain got too bad. I probably should have told her then that the pain had been "too bad" for the last couple hours. Of course like a total dork I start googling stuff about having you gall bladder out while pregnant which put me into a total panic. So to make a long story short, I headed to the ER, where bless their little hearts they hooked me right up to an IV and shot me full of drugs so that I would stop my crying and panicking, had an ultrasound showing wicked gall stones and inflammation of the surrounding ducts, and had a surgeon in my room telling me he was going to take my gall bladder out in an hour if I gave him the okay. They don't mess around in the ER :) After talking to the on call OB we decided that having it out was my only option and went for it. I was extremely nervous, coming out of the surgery was very painful, and the recovery has been much slower then I would like. I have been reminded though of how amazing my husband is, resilient my children are, caring my neighbors are, and how supportive my family is. Thank you so much to everyone who has helped out and gotten our family through this crazy week, may I never have one like it again!
