9 months

Our cute Lucy is 9 months old already! This is what it is like to try to take her picture, she will not sit still long enough for it to happen. She had her well check-up yesterday and she is doing great. She is in the 25% for weight and 45% for height which is tiny compared to what Izzy was at this age. We are so glad to have such a healthy happy baby!
Thanks to everyone who commented on my last post, it's nice to know I'm not the only one that feels the way I do.

p.s. Sarah, let me know if you have any Madrid travel tips or must sees.

What do you think?

(So I was debating if I should post this or not because I didn't want anyone to feel like they were being publicly dissed but I'm pretty interested in the response so I'm going to go ahead-with the disclaimer that I am not trying to publicly diss anyone or their opinions).

Sean and I have the chance to take a sweet vacation to Madrid, Spain in a few weeks and we are so excited. While trying to make arrangements for the girls and where they would stay and who would take care of them while we were gone, I found out that not everyone agreed with us going on a vacation without our girls; the thought had honestly never crossed my mind that it was strange that we were planning a trip without our kids. So I'm just curious, how do other people feel about taking kid free vacations? I'd love to know what some of you think.

My Little Goose

I've been such a blog slacker the last few months and I feel that Lucy has not gotten the blog attention she deserves. I'm so lucky to have my little goose, she is the sweetest, funniest, most relaxed baby I have ever known (and I'm not saying that just because I am her mom). The last few months have been so fun to watch her grow and develop. She started scooting like a mad women around 6 months and was crawling by Christmas. She can basically do a pull-up off the side of her crib, or anything else that she can reach with her tip toes. She has more determination to get places then I've ever seen. She's been standing up on things for the last couple months but this last week she has started cruising all over and has even been brave enough to stand for a few seconds on her own. She is so ticklish, I love to squeeze her little sides and watch her giggle. Although she doesn't sleep as well as Izzy did at her age she is getting better and hopefully she won't need her middle of the night snack anymore. Izzy has really stepped up as the big sister and loves to make her laugh and smile and tries to "hold" her all the time. This picture is what I found one day when I went to check on the girls napping- Lucy was sad so Izzy put in about every book and stuffed animal in the room into Lucy's crib, needless to say it did not help her sleep. We love you LuLu!

See Spot. See Spot....swim?

This is Spot, Izzy's new goldfish. She was so excited when I told her that she could get a fish. I find it so funny that this kid has two furry dogs at home but the fish is the COOL pet. She is such a loving fish mommy, she makes sure that Spot is well fed and happy. Although I'm sad to report that when we woke up this morning Spot was looking a little "puffy" so I'm not sure how much longer he will be with us.

Happy B-day Rach!

So it is my awesome sister Rachel's birthday today, we just got home from an equally awesome birthday party that she planned (there was Family Feud involved). I just wanted to let her know how much I love her and how lucky I feel to have her as a sister. I don't think I have ever told her but she has played a huge role in the direction my life has taken. When I was a senior I made a semi conscience choice to do a 180 with my life which meant leaving a lot of friends behind and it was a pretty lonely time. Rachel spent I don't know how many weekends with me watching horrible 80's movies with me and I think even enjoying them. I'm pretty sure that we spent most weekends together and I'm also pretty sure that if it wasn't for her friendship and company at the time that I wouldn't have been able to stick with the decisions that I had made. So, thanks Rach for being my best friend when I needed one the most, it's made all the difference in my life. I love you.

*sorry for the weird pic, it's the only one I had.

Some mornings I long for the time when I wasn’t responsible for anyone but myself- no getting up at 2:00 in the morning to feed a baby that has decided to stop sleeping through the night, no waking up again at 4:00 to clean up dog poop from my living room floor, no waking up again at 6:00 to feed cranky baby again, no 3 year old coming down at 6:30 to let me know that she had wet the bed (thanks for your help on that one Sean). I would kill for more then 2 hours of sleep at a time. It seems completely crazy that all of these things keeping me from getting adequate sleep are also all of the things that make me most happy. Are mother’s crazy or what?
